This is important!!

Yes, it is important that we all do our bit to be more green, look after the environment and take care of the planet. But we have to do it in the right way and do it safely.

Read on for more information about e-bikes and e-scooters and fire safety.

Most e-bikes and e-scooters are powered by lithium-ion batteries. These can be easily charged at home. However, you should do so with caution and do your best to ensure your safety at all times. These batteries are highly flamable and burn with explosive force if they overheat.

Here are some handy tips to follow.

  • Do not do your own repairs on your e-bike or e-scooter or buy batteries for them unless you know what you're doing or know they're from a reputable source.
  • Do NOT store your e-bike or e-scooter indoors wherever possible.
  • Do NOT leave it to charge overnight & unplug it as soon as it's finished charging.
  • Do your research before you buy either vehicle. Second hand vehicles may not have been maintained properly and may have some damage.
  • Make sure you have suitable smoke & heat detection.
  • If the battery does catch fire, DO NOT try to put it out yourself. Get yourself clear of the fire and call 999 immediately! Advise them what is on fire and where.
